11:30 Short introductory talks on the archaeology of Sutton Park and its management by Mike Hodder (Friends of Sutton Park Association) and Matthew Barker (Sutton Park Ranger)

12:45- 2:00 lunch- bring your own food, or there is a Costa in the nearby Leisure Centre, and a pub and café in Sutton Park (5 mins walk)

2:15 Starting from Sutton Park Visitor Centre, just inside Sutton Park from the Youth Centre, walk to see some of the Park’s many archaeological sites including subdivisions of the medieval deer park, medieval fishponds, a hunting platform, wood boundaries and holloways, and the site protection work of the History and Archaeology Taskforce volunteers.

Sutton Coldfield Youth Centre is in Clifton Road, Sutton Coldfield B73 6EB. Car parking at venue, and ample car parking in adjoining Sutton Park (5 mins from venue, via pedestrian gate).

Sutton Coldfield station is about 10 mins walk (via station car park, Railway Road and Park Road) and many buses serve Sutton Coldfield town centre (10 mins, via Park Road)

The walk in Sutton Park will be about 2 miles long. Some of it will be on rough grass and unsurfaced paths, and it includes some uneven surfaces and gentle slopes. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear because there is no shelter on the route, and paths may be muddy.
